Longer publications during the last few years have included an essay in Nature debunking the popular idea of water wars; a book, The Plague Makers about biological warfare, and Directing the flow: a new approach to water resources management for the European Commission.

With my colleague Martin Ince, I wrote the science content of the 2011 – 2013 annual issues of Outlook, the flagship publication of the Grantham Institute for Climate Change at Imperial College London.

We also co-authored the 2011 Annual Report of Imperial College’s Energy Futures Laboratory.

For eight years until 2012, I edited and contributed to the British Science Festival news website.

I have written for Nature, New Scientist, Times Higher Education, Ambio, Geo, Green Ink, Interdisciplinary Science Reviews, and Medicine, Conflict and Survivalamong other outlets. I’ve also written policy documents and extended summaries of many scientific meetings which have been published by the Royal Society.
