About Me

I became a journalist by accident in the 1970s, and it didn’t take me long to realise it was what I wanted to do.

I have dual Australian/British nationality. I graduated in Government and International Relations from the University of Sydney, and joined the Australian diplomatic service. My first posting was to Sweden where, after three years, I switched to journalism.

I’ve been based in the UK since 1981, but have worked in Scandinavia, Europe, the USA, the Middle East, Australia and China.

When I can, I escape with my husband to our patch of bush on Kangaroo Island, off the southern coast of South Australia.
